Privacy Policy

1. Who we are

Pingio ("Pingio", "we", "us", "our") is a mobile app and web service that lets you save content you find online — recipes, videos, articles, products, and ideas — and reminds you about it at the right time. This policy explains what data we collect, why we collect it, who we share it with, and the choices you have.

If you have questions about this policy or your data, contact us at hello@pingio.me.

2. Information we collect

2.1 Account information

  • Email address — required for every account, regardless of how you sign up.
  • Password — only if you register with email/password. We never store your password itself, only a one-way cryptographic hash (bcrypt) of it.
  • Google account info — if you sign in with Google (Android), Google shares your email address and account identifier with us to create/log in to your account. We never see your Google password.
  • Apple account info — if you sign in with Apple (iOS), Apple shares your email address (or Apple's private relay email, if you choose to hide your email) and account identifier with us. We never see your Apple credentials.

2.2 Content you save

When you save a link (a recipe, video, article, product, or other page) to Pingio, we store the URL, any note you add, the category you choose (or that our system assigns), and content we automatically fetch from the public page (title, description, thumbnail image) so we can show it back to you and remind you about it.

2.3 Device and notification data

We store a push-notification token tied to your device (Android or iOS) so we can deliver reminders. This token does not identify you personally beyond your Pingio account.

2.4 Usage and diagnostic data

We may collect product-analytics events (for example: an item was saved, a reminder was opened or dismissed) to understand how the app is used and improve it. We may also collect crash and error reports to fix bugs. Both are optional, service-side integrations — if not configured, this data collection simply does not happen. Neither is used for advertising, and we do not sell or share this data with data brokers.

2.5 Information we do not collect

We do not access your device's contacts, photos, location, microphone, or camera. We do not collect precise location data. We do not use advertising SDKs or advertising identifiers.

3. How we use your information

  • To provide the service — save, organize, categorize, and remind you about the content you save.
  • To analyze saved content with AI — when you request an AI summary, insight, or price comparison for something you saved, the relevant content (its title, description, and/or page text) is sent to a third-party AI provider (see §4) to generate that result. Your account credentials are never included in this data.
  • To send notifications — reminders about content you saved, delivered via push notification.
  • To send account emails — password reset codes and email-verification codes.
  • To keep the service secure — detect abuse, rate-limit requests, and protect accounts.
  • To improve Pingio — aggregated, non-identifying analysis of how features are used.

We do not use your saved content or account data to train third-party general-purpose AI models, and we do not sell your data to anyone.

4. Third-party services we use

We rely on a small number of third-party service providers to operate Pingio. Each only receives the minimum data needed to perform its function:

ProviderPurposeData shared
Google Sign-InAccount login (Android)Email address, Google account ID
Sign in with AppleAccount login (iOS)Email address (or Apple relay email), Apple account ID
Firebase Cloud Messaging (Google)Delivering push-notification remindersDevice push token
OpenRouter / OpenAIGenerating AI summaries, insights, and price comparisons for content you ask us to analyzeTitle/description/text of the specific saved item you requested AI analysis for
ResendSending transactional email (password reset, email verification)Email address
PostHogProduct analytics (optional)Anonymized usage events
SentryCrash and error reporting (optional)Technical error details, no message content

These providers process data on our behalf under their own privacy and security terms, and may process it outside your country of residence.

5. Data retention and account deletion

We keep your account data for as long as your account is active. You can request full account deletion at any time from within the app (Settings → Delete Account). Deletion is scheduled with a 30-day grace period: if you sign back in within that window, the deletion request is automatically cancelled and nothing is lost. After 30 days, your account and all associated data (saved items, devices, sessions) are permanently and irreversibly deleted.

You can also request a full export of your data (a machine-readable copy of everything associated with your account) from within the app at any time.

6. Data security

  • Passwords are never stored in plain text — only a salted bcrypt hash.
  • All traffic between the app and our servers is encrypted in transit (HTTPS/TLS only — the app does not send data over unencrypted connections).
  • Session/refresh tokens are stored as one-way hashes, not as the raw token an attacker could reuse.
  • Access to production data is restricted to the developer operating the service.

7. Children's privacy

Pingio is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, contact us at hello@pingio.me and we will delete it.

8. Your rights

Depending on where you live (including under Turkey's KVKK and the EU's GDPR), you may have the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you
  • Correct inaccurate data
  • Export your data in a portable format
  • Request deletion of your account and data
  • Object to or restrict certain processing

You can exercise the export and deletion rights directly in the app, or contact us at hello@pingio.me for any other request.

9. Changes to this policy

If we make material changes to this policy, we will update the "Last updated" date above and, where appropriate, notify you in the app.
